What is id?

id Theater is a development only theater company. We believe that in order to have great theater we have to start with great plays, and in order to have great plays we must nurture talented writers. Working chiefly in McCall, Idaho and New York City, id provides a safe place for artists (professional, emerging, amateur & student) to develop work, take risks and introduce audiences to adventurous new works that reflect, challenge and celebrate them.

Now entering it's 18th year, Seven Devils Playwrights Conference an two-week Conference that brings playwrights, directors, dramaturgs, actor & theater artists from around the country, and from every walk of life, to McCall, Idaho for 2 weeks of rehearsals, readings and workshops of new plays. The Conference also includes plays written by area high school students, a free playwriting workshop led by a renowned featured artist and an internship program for college students. Plays are selected through an open submission process. For more information on submitting your work for consideration, look here.
NYC Sit-In!  A monthly reading series that offers artists who have worked with us a venue to hear rewrites, polish up old plays or hear new works for the very first time at the Back Room at Jimmy’s No. 43 in New York City.
Bridgeworks supports writers as they bridge the gap from development to production.  This program is open to all Seven Devils Playwrights. The type of support offered depends on the needs of the playwright and the project that is envisioned. For more information contact Sheila at: sheila@idtheater.org.
id-iots at Play offers id playwrights a format for coming together to read and hear new material, and support each other by using the philosophies and methods of the Playwrights Conference as a guide post for their feedback and discussion.
id-iots at Play New York City, led by Bob Kerr, was the first group. There is now a group in Boise as well.
